The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) is a multi-discipline, non-profit, international organisation of professional appraisers representing all appraisal disciplines. We established the ASA’s European Chapter in 2015.

We are delighted to announce that we are hosting our 3rd European Valuation Conference on 24 May 2022 in the Municipal House in Prague. This year the conference will serve as a forum for sharing and exchanging views on current issues as well as practical experience in the area of valuation in disputes. The event is designed for lawyers, arbitrators, in-house counsels, other litigation practitioners, valuation practitioners and government representatives.

By attending the conference, ASA members will be granted 7 CPE credits. Confirmation forms will be distributed at the conference.

Legal counsels and state representatives have free entrance.

There will be 3 panel discussions during the day.

  1. World in chaos. How to reflect uncertainty?
    • How to deal with unexpected high inflation, scarcity of inputs, break of supply chains and other shocks?
    • What to do if your client or one of the parties in the arbitration is on the sanctions list or in Ukraine?
    • How to deal with a catastrophic event that has occurred during the arbitration (for example after the submission of the expert report)?
  2. Effective cooperation of legal counsels and quantum experts?
    • What do financial, legal and arbitration professionals expect from a quantum experts?
    • Tips for a quantum expert - what to do and what not to do.
    • How to set up effective cooperation in complex cases where large teams are involved?
  3. How to approach complex issues in arbitration and litigation?
    • How to present a complex technical issue to the courts or tribunals effectively?
    • How to convince a non-expert that your reasoning for a disputed topic is correct (e.g. quantification of size premium or a liquidity discount)?
    • Tips for a quantum expert - what to do and what not to do.

The conference will be held in Obecní dům (Municipal House). This Art Nouveau building, built from 1905 to 1911, is proof of unprecedented artistic and craft skills and quality. The café, the French and the Pilsner restaurants, the American bar, the Lord Mayor’s Salon and the Smetana Hall are all examples of perfectly executed Art Nouveau interiors, decorated by leading artists and sculptors such as Alfons Mucha, Jan Preisler, Ladislav Šaloun, and others.
